On Friday, January 11, 2013, COERR Surin staff has celebrated the ceremony on the occasion of the National Children’s Day, organized one day before the real Children’s Day, Saturday January 12, 2013, which, since 1965, falls on second Saturday of January every year. On this particular day, the total number of 165 students from Ban Samrong School (147), together with those from the Child Care Center (18), took part in several activities including children’s performances and competitions in which rewards were given to the winners and contestants. Then lunch, prepared by parents who volunteered to cook for their kids, was served to all children. Among the presents given to the children participated in the ceremony, a COERR doll was the most appreciated by each recipient child, who welcome the doll with a big hug.
These dolls were donated by 29 Catholic schools in Bangkok and vicinity as a result of COERR’s annual campaign. Every year, COERR launch a campaign in schools requesting for donation of secondhand dolls for children in remote schools. It is expected that the donors learn how good it feels to give and share what one’s has had to others.
